The most important reason for the occurrence of Urinary inflammation, known as cystitis in the literature, is due to infections caused by bacteria. In women, this is due to the fact that the tube called the urethra, which carries urine out of the bladder, is shorter than in men, which is more common in cystitis.
Bladder Infection ‘Urinary Inflammation’
Inflammation of the bladder, that is, cystitis, is characterized by burning when urinating, frequent urination, sudden urge to urinate and pain under the navel. Sometimes bloody or cloudy, foul-smelling urine may also be observed. Fever and systemic findings are rare. They are more common in women than men. Someone who has been infected once tends to get re-infection later.
Urinalysis and culture are important in diagnosis. If it is not complicated, there is no need for radiological imaging.
In treatment, a short course of oral antibiotics is given. The cause of recurrent cystitis should be investigated and protective measures should be taken if necessary. If the cause is stone, etc., it should be removed. If cystitis is observed after sexual intercourse, it is recommended to empty the bladder frequently and to take a single dose of antibiotics immediately after intercourse
